Tender is a short film written and directed by Noami Segal for a UCLA Film Thesis. In a story about a woman bonding with her granddaughter, the grandmother relives the trauma of her past and learns to forgive herself.
This filming required 4 different locations in the 1970s and present, as well as customizing significant props. A bottle of orange juice main connection between the grandmother and granddaughter as well as the grandmother and her late brother. It was important that we had plenty of bottles, for both eras. I created a brand with logos for both time periods, then printed and labeled the bottles. Another major component was creating a 1970s hospital in a UCLA classroom, where the brother gets sick. While only a flashback for two scenes, it had a very strong emotional purpose within the film.
